Is refined batana oil bad?
Not bad — different. Refining removes colour and smell, and with them a good part of what makes the raw oil worth buying. It's a legitimate product; it just shouldn't cost the same as the unrefined version, and you should know which one you're getting.
How long before I can tell whether it's working?

Is the more expensive oil always the better one?

Won't an oil just make my hair greasy?
That's what refined, silicone-heavy oils do — they sit on top. Raw batana melts in and absorbs, and a pea-size amount is genuinely all you need. Use half of what you think and it leaves hair soft, never slick.
